Hi!  My name is Clover. I moved to Fort St John in 1980 and attended school at Bert Bowes and then the old North Peace High School.

Growing up we had cats and dogs, nothing exotic. I remember my parents talking about getting a ferret when I was young. I had no idea what a ferret was as we had no pet store in the small town, I grew up in. When we went to the BIG city (Vernon BC) we would sometimes go to a pet store and I remember looking at the row of tropical fish thinking “Boring”.  Ohhh! how things change.

When my son was about 5-year-old, I bought him a newt and a totally inappropriate habitat. The Newt didn’t make it. Next purchase was a 30-gallon aquarium and lots of internet research. I continued to make mistakes with my fish keeping but eventually it all clicked. I had always wanted to have my own business and approached Friendly Pets in 2005 with an offer to buy. And here we are now, in a beautiful new location with a fully stocked and bright clean store.

I am proud of my store and I think the store has exceptional staff. My staff is very important to me and they truly make the store what it is today.
